On April 20, 2017, Ambassador Liu Xiaoming had discussions with Charles Grant, Director of the Centre for European Reform at the Embassy. Ian Bond, Director of foreign policy of the Centre for European Reform and others were present.
Ambassador Liu commended the positive role of the Centre for European Reform in enhancing the mutual understanding and cooperation between China and Britain, and between China and the European Union. He briefed his guests on the current economic development in China and the preparations for the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, noting that the Chinese Embassy in London is willing to maintain communication and cooperation with the Centre for European Reform.
The two sides also exchanged views on the current situation in Britain, UK-EU negotiations and international and regional issues of common concern.
Founded in 1996, the Centre for European Reform, an important think-tank based in London, is mainly focused on UK-EU relations, European integration, transatlantic partnership and other issues.
