Ambassador Liu Xiaoming Holds Talks with Niblett, Director of Chatham House, and Other Experts

On February 7, Ambassador Liu Xiaoming held talks at the Chinese Embassy with Dr Robin Niblett CMG, Director of Chatham House (RIIA), Xenia Wickett, RIIA Head of US and the Americas Programme, Dr Champa Patel, RIIA Head of Asia Programme, David Marsh, Chairman of the Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum (OMFIF), Chris Ostrowski, OMFIF Head of Business Development, Raffaello Pantucci, Director of International Security Studies of Royal United Services Institute, and other think tank experts.

Ambassador Liu briefed the guests on the significance of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the latest progress of China-UK relations, and the outcomes of Prime Minister May's Visit to China, pointing out that the Congress which opened up a new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics has brought new opportunities for consolidating the "Golden Era" of China-UK relations. He encouraged them to continue to pay attention to and support the development of China-UK relations and share their advice and suggestions on promoting the exchanges and cooperation between China and Britain and between China and the world.

The experts spoke highly of China's achievements in economic and social development and its growing international influence and expressed their readiness to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China for a more fruitful China-UK "Golden Era".

Also among the topics discussed at the meeting are issues relating to international and regional situations.
