Li Keqiang Meets with President Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany
2018/07/10

On the afternoon of July 9, 2018 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met with President Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany at Bellevue Palace in Berlin.

Li Keqiang first conveyed President Xi Jinping's sincere greetings to President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Li Keqiang expressed that China-Germany relations continue maintaining a momentum of rapid development at a high level at present. This China-Germany inter-governmental consultation formulated a roadmap for bilateral cooperation in various fields in the next stage. Both sides agreed to strengthen all-round strategic cooperation and jointly send out a signal of firmly safeguarding multilateralism and free trade with practical actions. In the 21st century, it is an outdated act to set trade barriers. China is willing to, together with Germany, continue to maintain high-level exchanges, strengthen exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and be a model of cooperation in seeking common ground while shelving differences and seeking maximization of common interests.

Frank-Walter Steinmeier congratulated on the fruitful outcomes of the just-concluded fifth round of Germany-China inter-governmental consultation, and expressed that under the current situation, Germany and China, as major trading countries, do not want to see the free trade process being threatened. Various parties should be committed to seeking consensus, and implement more farsighted policies so as to safeguard the productive free trade over the years and promote common development and prosperity.

Xiao Jie and He Lifeng attended the meeting.
