Embassy Statement on Chinese Students' Bank Account Being Frozen
2019/03/06

Q: It is reported that the bank accounts of 95 Chinese students at British universities have recently been frozen on suspicion of money laundering. What is the Chinese Embassy’s comment on this case?

A: We have noticed the relevant reports and are seeking verification of the relevant information. The Chinese Embassy in the UK has consistently advised Chinese citizens to abide by the laws of the two countries, and urged the British side to handle relevant cases fairly in accordance with the law and to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens. We advise the relevant Chinese citizens to cooperate actively in the investigation and assert their legitimate rights and interests through legal means. The Chinese Embassy in the UK will provide assistance if necessary to the relevant Chinese citizens within the purview of its responsibility.
