Embassy Spokesperson on the UK Defence Secretary's wrongful remarks related to China
2024-01-16 01:30

Question: During his defense policy speech on January 15th, UK Defence Secretary Grant Shapps claimed that the UK and the West could be looking at multiple theatres involving China and some other countries in five years’ time. He also mentioned that China and other countries are developing satellite killing technology, and conducting cyber attacks against the UK. What is your comment?

Embassy Spokesperson: It is deeply irresponsible for this British politician to make those unfounded accusations against China. We strongly deplore and firmly oppose such act.

China stands resolutely against and will not conduct cyber attacks on any country. We have always advocated the peaceful use of outer space and opposed the weaponization and arms race in outer space. China adheres to the path of peaceful development and has always been a staunch force for world peace, which is there for all to see. On the contrary, the British side has been stirring up trouble, supporting malignant forces, and provoking war, and is responsible for the chaos in many parts of the world.

We urge the UK politician to correct his wrongdoing, stop inciting antagonism and confrontation, and stop slandering and denigrating China.
