Question: How does the international community view the economic and social development of Xinjiang and the employment situation of local residents? Embassy Spokesperson: In recent years, hundreds of delegations, including officials from international organisations, members of the diplomatic corps in China, foreign journalists, and religious figures, have visited Xinjiang. They share the view that Xinjiang has a warm and hospitable people and a dynamic economy, and that each stop of their visits had been impressive. They saw a stable Xinjiang, where people can live safely thanks to the government’s efforts. They saw a happy Xinjiang, where people’s lives have improved significantly. They saw a culturally diverse and thriving Xinjiang, where the traditional cultures of ethnic minority groups are well protected and passed on from one generation to another. The international community has a clear understanding of the employment situation of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang. After visiting the region, a foreign diplomat said that delegation members had relaxed conversations with people and saw them living decent and happy lives, and that they did not see “forced labour” or other human rights violations there. Diplomats from Asian and African countries to Geneva who visited Xinjiang said that they saw a diverse, modern, and inclusive society in China's Xinjiang, which is entirely different from rumours they had heard about "forced labour". Recently, Volkswagen issued a statement saying that an independent audit found no sign or evidence of "forced labour" in its factory in Xinjiang. Facts have fully shown that truth will always prevail. The international community will not be deceived by lies about so-called "forced labour" in Xinjiang.
