On 27 March 2023, Ambassador Zheng Zeguang, who was on a visit in Northern Ireland, met with Vice Lord Lieutenant of the County Borough of Belfast Alan Logan and had an exchange of views with him on deepening exchanges and cooperation between China and Belfast. Ambassador Zheng said that Belfast has a long history and is beautiful and full of potential. In recent years, the friendly exchanges and cooperation between China and Belfast have yielded fruitful results, bringing huge benefits to the people of both sides. It is hoped that the two sides will work together to strengthen exchanges, deepen friendship, and further expand practical cooperation in various fields such as economy and trade, education, culture, and tourism, so as to bring the friendly relationship between the two sides to a new height. Dr Logan welcomed Ambassador Zheng to Belfast. He noted that the bonds of friendship between Northern Ireland and China are time-honoured and that he looks forward to seeing more Chinese companies, students and tourists coming to Belfast. Chinese Consul General in Belfast Zhang Meifang, and Minister Bao Ling, Minister Counselor Bi Haibo, Counselor Kong Xiangwen of the Chinese Embassy in the UK, as well as representatives of Chinese-funded enterprises in the UK attended the event.
