H.E. Ambassador Liu Xiaoming Meets with Baroness Neville-Rolfe, Minister of State for the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy

    On 17 August, 2016, Ambassador Liu Xiaoming met with Minister of State Baroness Neville-Rolfe at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy of the UK to. They exchanged views on China-UK relations.

   Baroness Neville-Rolfe emphasized the importance of China-UK relations. Last year, President Xi Jinping's state visit to the UK was a complete success. China and the UK achieved a series of fruitful results. The new British government attaches great importance to developing relations with China, and remains open to Chinese investment. The Minister looked forward to visiting China later in the month to promote the bilateral exchanges and cooperation in energy and intellectual property.

   Ambassador Liu said that China appreciated the British government's efforts in developing China-UK relations, and welcomed Prime Minister Theresa May's forthcoming visit to Hangzhou, China this September for the G20 Hangzhou Summit. China would be willing to make concerted efforts with the UK to adhere to the overall direction of China-UK relations defined by leaders of the two countries and to deepen practical cooperation in all sectors, so as to bring more benefits to both peoples. The Chinese side welcomed Baroness Neville-Rolfe's visit to China and hoped to further strengthen the bilateral cooperation in energy and intellectual property.
