On September 1, 2010, Chinese Ambassador to the UK Liu Xiaoming called on British Energy and Climate Change Secretary Chris Huhne.

Ambassador Liu said that the China-UK relations are in good shape since the British coalition government took office, China is ready to work with the UK to deepen mutual trust, expand cooperation and push the bilateral relations to a new level. The two countries have great potential for cooperation in the fields of energy and climate change, and China is willing to strengthen exchanges with the UK to achieve more substantive results in the bilateral cooperation in relevant fields.

Huhne said that the new British government attaches great importance to its relations with China and takes energy and climate change as an important field of cooperation between the two countries. The British side commended the active efforts of China to respond to climate change and expressed the willingness to strengthen UK-China cooperation in relevant fields and jointly promote international cooperation.
