Over 200 guests attended the ceremony including Kenneth Davidson, Master of the Worshipful Company of Wheelwrights, David Lewis, Lord Mayor of the City of London, Lord Clement-Jones, Vice Chairman of APPCG, and Lord Hunt.

This year's Master of Wheelwright Award was awarded to Deng Pufang, Chairman of the Chinese Association of the Disabled. Mr. Davidson introduced Chairman Deng Pufang to the guests at the ceremony. He said that the Master of Wheelwright Award was only given to the distinguished few who have contributed to the cause for the disabled people. This year's award was given to Chairman Deng to commemorate his contributions to the disabled people in China.

Minister Councilor Zhang Lirong attended the ceremony and received the award on behalf of Chairman Deng Pufang. He delivered a short speech. He first thanked the Worshipful Company of Wheelwrights for awarding its master award to Chairman Deng, a full acknowledgment of his outstanding contributions to the cause for the disabled people in China. He went on to introduce the life of the disabled people in China, the progress made and the preparation for the 13th Paralympics to be held in Beijing in September.
