Mosquito Nets Donated by British Friends Transported to Sichuan Disaster Area
2008-09-18 19:17

As a result of liaison by Mr. Wanming Yau, chairman of the Kut-O Chinese Association, a batch of mosquito nets (3,900 pieces) worth 28,000 pounds donated by Mr. Peter Rodberg of Kentshire to Sichuan were on their way from London on 8th July.

To facilitate earlier transportation of the goods, Mr. Rodberg, Mr. Davis and members of Lion and Dragon Dance Group of the Kut-O Chinese Association packed, loaded and labeled 108 boxes of goods weighted 4,500 kg in the weekend. Police Station of the Shire of Kent provided free vehicles for transportation to Heathrow Airport, and four police officers assisted the transportation in the weekend.

China Eastern Airlines London Branch exempted all cargo fees of the goods. British RCP Logistics, Unique Logistics, Heathrow Cargo Handling Ltd. provided free storage, customs declaration and inspection services.

On behalf of the Chinese government and Sichuan, Chinese Embassy in UK wishes to express the thanks to the institutions and individuals above.
