Head of Chinese Paralympic Sports Delegation Wang Xinxian Meets with FCO Minister of State Jeremy Browne

On September 3, Wang Xinxian, President of National Paralympic Committee of China (NPCC) and Head of the Chinese sports delegation to the 14th Paralympic Games, met with Jeremy Brown, Minister of State for British Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Chinese Ambassador to the UK Liu Xiaoming and Deputy Heads of the Chinese sports delegation Wang Naikun and Jia Yong attended the meeting.

Mr. Browne welcomed the large Chinese sports delegation to London Paralympics and spoke highly of the excellent performance of the Chinese Paralympic athletes. He said that the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games was a great success and that Britain was glad to continue the glory of Beijing in its own way. Mr. Browne commended the efforts of the Chinese government in improving the lives of disabled persons and promoting the undertakings for them. He said that the China-UK cooperation covers not only the fields of politics, economy and trade, but also the exchanges of culture and sports, and expressed the hope that the two countries would work more closely with each other in cultural exchanges, including in the field of undertakings for disabled persons. Mr. Browne wished the Chinese athletes more success in the competitions to come.

Wang Xinxian thanked the British side for the warm reception and thoughtful arrangements for the Chinese sports delegation. He praised the 14th Paralympic Games and the 30th Summer Olympic Games as a well-organized and wonderful success, and congratulated the British athletes on their outstanding achievements. Mr. Wang Xinxian introduced the current development of the undertakings for disabled persons in China. He stressed that the Chinese government attaches great importance to protecting the rights and interests of disabled persons and developing the undertakings for them. The government also pays great attention to the Paralympic Games and has sent the largest ever delegation to overseas competitions this time. Mr. Wang said that China is ready to work with the UK in further strengthening the bilateral exchanges and cooperation in the rehabilitation, education and employment of disabled persons.
